This film is an exploration of our attachment to labels, and how they shape (and limit) our identity. The film's genre has been polarizing - for trans/queer folks, it's a dark comedy, while for many cishet people, it's a harrowing drama. As for me, I’m now post-op, 6 months deep into testosterone, and still attracted to straight men… maybe gender non-conforming filmmakers are inherently genre non-conforming, as well.
