Research shows how individuals feel about the health of their community matters. High quality of life and community cohesion can positively impact resident well-being through the availability of resources, a sense of safety, and participation in civic life. “Community” provides a feeling of belonging, a sense of support, and a way to have our voices heard and valued. Led by Shanna Melton and Alicia Cobb, local students enrolled in LifeBridge’s Mural Club designed the Beloved Community mural based on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Six Principles of Nonviolence with emphasis on Principle Two which states, “The Beloved Community is the framework for the future.” The mural is a reminder of all the good within Bridgeport and aims to instill joy and hope for residents and visitors. LifeBridge Community Services supports the mental and emotional well-being of youth and families in greater Bridgeport.

One of her puppets, PySockoras, comes to life to educate her on the magic of geometry. PySockoras literally drops Caroly into the confusing and complex world of geometry. Caroly then declares she has had enough, and so PySockoras reframes math by relating back to sewing sock puppets. Now confident in her abilities, Caroly ventures out into the world only to be met with an F-. After a brief confrontation, Caroly discovers she was talking to herself the whole time.
